SALT featured on stamps

The October-December 2004 issue of Setempe, the philatelic magazine of the SA Post Office, pictured SALT on its cover, with a quote by prof George Ellis: "Humanity's great mission of understanding our position in the Universe."

The Post Office has issued a set of five stamps, face value four Rands, "featuring the outside view, a cross section of the building with telescope inside, the southern cross, the bare telescope as well as the view upward. Various aspects of SALT, including the South African skies, are incorporated into the design."

"The special commemorative envelope depicts a Lagoon nebula which is easy to observe with binoculars and small telescopes."
