African Astronomical History Symposium

Call for Papers

Notice, and a call-for-papers, is hereby given of a symposium to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, in the field of the History of Astronomy.

The Historical Section of the Society is the host for this symposium. The symposium is intended to cover main-line, archaeo- and ethno-astronomy. Each of these fields has a considerable following. In South Africa alone, persons publishing on historical astronomy include Warner, Orchiston, Glass, Koorts and others. In ethno-astronomy, there have been articles by Snedegar, F. Thackeray and others.

Contributions relating to wavelength regions outside traditional astronomy, such as gamma-rays and radio, will also be considered.
